It shouldn’t need to be a choice.
It shouldn’t cost your mental health.
It shouldn’t be this way.
We believe that no woman should have to choose between starting a family and running a successful business. Our campaign is focused on implementing comprehensive solutions to support female entrepreneurs at every stage of their journey, from conception and pregnancy to childbirth and beyond.
Here’s how we’re looking to make a difference:
We’ve identified the following key areas:
Business owners currently lack access to necessary support during such critical times. We demand better provisions.
Miscarriage support
The current system provides little to no support for business owners. We aim to change that.
Maternity leave for business owners
Affordable and accessible childcare is essential for women to succeed in business. We advocate for policies that make this a reality.
Childcare support
Entrepreneurship should be accessible to all, regardless of background. We call for government-backed initiatives to support aspiring female entrepreneurs.
Equal access to entrepreneurship
Miscarriage support
Miscarriage is a deeply personal and often traumatic experience. Business owners need dedicated support to navigate this difficult time. We propose:
Emotional support services: Providing access to counselling and support groups specifically for business owners.
Flexible business support: Offering temporary relief from business obligations through grants or subsidised services.
Awareness and education: Promoting awareness and understanding of miscarriage in the business community to foster a supportive environment.
Maternity leave for business owners
Female business owners deserve the same rights and protections as employees when it comes to maternity leave. We advocate for:
Legislative changes: Implementing laws that provide paid maternity leave for self-employed women and business owners.
Financial support: Access to grants and subsidies that help cover business expenses during maternity leave.
Flexible leave options: Policies that allow business owners to take leave in a way that suits their unique business needs.
Ending discrimination: Female business owners are currently not protected by the Equality Act 2010 against maternity discrimination in the same way as employed women are.
Childcare support
Affordable and accessible childcare is essential for enabling women to balance business and family life. We’re working to ensure:
Subsidised childcare: Access to affordable and suitable childcare options for business owners.
On-site childcare facilities: Encouraging the development of childcare facilities within business hubs and co-working spaces.
Flexible childcare solutions: Supporting innovative childcare models that accommodate the unpredictable schedules of entrepreneurs.
Equal access to entrepreneurship
Entrepreneurship should be an opportunity available to all, regardless of background or circumstance. We aim to:
Government-backed initiatives: Advocating for programs that support aspiring female entrepreneurs from diverse backgrounds.
Financial assistance: Providing access to funding and financial resources for women starting or growing their businesses.
Mentorship and networking: Creating networks and mentorship programs to support women in their entrepreneurial journeys.
Mental health
and well-being
Running a business while raising a family can take a toll on mental health. Our solutions include:
Mental health resources: Offering access to mental health services tailored for business owners.
Work-life balance programs: Promoting practices and policies that encourage a healthy work-life balance.
Community support: Building a strong community of female entrepreneurs who can offer mutual support and share experiences.
